rpa and nlp :: Article Creator UiPath Acquires London-based NLP Startup Re:infer - Yahoo Robotic process automation (RPA) company UiPath has acquired Re:infer, a London-based startup that's developing natural language processing (NLP) tools for enterprises. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded out of Romania initially as Deskover in 2005, UiPath is one of the preeminent RPA platforms, helping to automate repetitive software-based tasks at companies including Google, NASA and DHL. After rebranding in 2015, UiPath moved its headquarters to New York City two years later. The company had raised around $2 billion and attained a valuation of $35 billion ahead of its arrival on the public markets in April, 2021, though its valuation has plummeted in the intervening months. While RPA is distinct from AI insofar as the former typically adheres to a manual "rules-based" approach, RPA certainly jibes with AI, and the two technologi...

i7 i robot :: Article Creator Roomba I7+ From IRobot Proves Its Smarts - Forbes I've always wondered whether robot vacuum cleaners were worth having. Specifically, how do they work, and second are they effective? As in, do they do the job they are meant to do? I started this robot cleaner journey with iRobot, the company that introduced the first such device way back in 2002. The unit I've started with is the Roomba i7+. This isn't the latest model in its range, with the J7+ and S9+ sitting above it with some additional features, but the i7+ is still advanced, as reflected in its £800 retail price tag though it's available for even less in some places. The "+" in the name refers to the automatic dirt disposal feature, but you can pick up an i7 without it for less. However, I would highly recommend the dirt disposal feature for reasons explained below, so I'd look to stretch to the + version if you can. The i...

it new technology 2020 :: Article Creator Business Technology, 2020ZDNET What will business and technology be like in 2020 – and what's IT's place in this new world?  This is the subject of a teleconference that James Staten and I held for our clients yesterday, and also the subject of an upcoming Forrester report. In this teleconference, we painted a picture of the impact of business-ready, self-service technology, a tech-savvy and self-sufficient workforce, and a business world where today's emerging economies dwarf the established ones, bringing a billion new consumers with a radically different view of products and services, and surging resource costs – especially energy costs – crush today's global business models. In the past, when new waves of technology swept into our businesses – everything from the 1980's PCs to today's Empowered technologies, the reaction was the swinging pendulum of 'decentralized/embedd...

rules based system in artificial intelligence :: Article Creator Truly Intelligent AI Could Play By The Rules, No Matter How Strange Truly Intelligent AI Could Play by the Rules, No Matter How Strange To build safe but powerful AI models, start by testing their ability to play games on the fly By Vinay K. Chaudhri edited by Dan Vergano A proposed game-playing challenge would evaluate AIs on how well they can adapt to and follow new rules. Tic-tac-toe is about as simple as games get—but as Scientific American's legendary contributor Martin Gardner pointed out almost 70 years ago, it has complex variations and strategic aspects. They range from "reverse" games—where the first player to make three in a row loses—to three-dimensional versions played on cubes and beyond. Gardner's games, even if they boggle a typical human mind, might point us to a way to make artificial intelligence more humanlike. That'...

It's all been a bit quiet on the iRobot front recently so it's good to see the US-based company back with another sterling autonomous floor-cleaning bot... The Roomba J9+ is available in three configurations: this 2-in-1 Combo version with self-emptying Clean Base and onboard water reservoir for automatic refilling of the robot's mop reservoir; the non-mopping J9+ with st...
