LG AI Research also released the lightweight model 'EXAONE Deep-7.8B' and the on-device model 'EXAONE Deep-2.4B' developed with 'EXAONE Deep-32B' as open source. The lightweight model maintains up to 95% of the 32B's performance despite being 24% of its size, and the on-device model has 86% of the performance despite being 7.5% of its size, possessing both high economic efficiency and practicality.
An official from LG AI Research said, "We announced EXAONE Deep about a month after attending the domestic AI industry competitiveness diagnosis and inspection meeting held at the National Artificial Intelligence Committee in February and foreshadowing the open-source release of a DeepSeek R1-level model soon," and added, "The core of LG's AI technology is maintaining performance while significantly reducing model size."
In fact, the performance of the lightweight model 7.8B exceeded that of other leading lightweight models, and the 2.4B on-device model also showed world-class results in performance comparisons with equivalent models.
In particular, the on-device model has strengths in terms of security and personal information protection by safely processing data within the device without connecting to an external server. LG AI Research anticipates on-device models to rapidly spread in various industries such as smartphones, automobiles, and robots.
LG AI Research plans to lead the on-device AI market by enhancing models with LG affiliates such as LG Electronics and LG U+.
Meanwhile, Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman and CEO of LG Group emphasized in his New Year's address this year, "The current LG has been built by accumulating many moments of challenging new areas and creating unprecedented value," and added, "We will create a new lifestyle where people use cutting-edge technologies such as AI conveniently in their daily lives, allowing them to spend their precious time on more enjoyable and meaningful tasks."

Quick! An LG OLED Is Available For Less Than £500 Right Now
Pigs have flown and you can now bag yourself an LG OLED TV for less than £500 on Amazon.
The Amazon offer means you can get the LG B4 for only £493. The original price was £899, so you're making a substantial saving of £406.
This is a TV that is regularly discounted, but not usually by this much. So for those wanting to take advantage of this deal, we recommend moving quickly.
We haven't reviewed the B4, but based on our experience with 2023's B3 OLED and the Award-winning 48-inch C4, we are happy to flag this deal.
The fact an OLED has dropped in price so much is impressive and means this deal must be worth considering.
Getting the benefits of OLED, including pixel-level lighting control and supreme contrast, at this price is a rare treat.
You can expect perfect black levels thanks to the OLED panel technology and, while this isn't one of LG's brighter OLED Evo panels, LG promises that it will "shine with lifelike colours".
At a technical level the TV is also solid, and will meet most buyers' needs.
First and foremost is the upgraded chipset, LG's Alpha 8 AI Processor, which drives a host of picture and sound-enhancing features.
This includes the ability to tweak the settings intelligently to suit the content you're watching, as well as adapting the sound based on your environment.
Gaming performance also gets a major boost, thanks to the inclusion of four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 sockets, up from two on the previous-generation model.
Those HDMIs can all handle 4K/120Hz signals with VRR and ALLM, while LG's excellent Game Optimiser feature sports a handy menu system that allows you to adapt settings quickly and see crucial information such as frame rate at a glance.
You also get the benefit of Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos support, though based on our experience with other LG OLEDs' in-built speakers, we suggest budgeting for a soundbar to go with your new TV.
Even the latest LG C5 we tested only weeks ago offers at best middling audio, and this is likely also to be the case with the B4.
Thankfully the inclusion of an HDMI eARC socket for pairing external sound systems means it is quick and easy to add a Dolby Atmos-ready soundbar.
And, while 48 inches might be stretching the limits of desktop display sizes, you can certainly get away with it being a monitor-style display if you have a sturdy and spacious desk.
For smaller living rooms 48-inches should also be just about big enough for immersive viewing; those with larger rooms would probably be better off going up a size or two and investing in a 55- or 65-inch set.

LG's New AI Speeds Up Product Design, Testing
LG Electronics has developed a new manufacturing artificial intelligence system that enables significantly faster and more accurate quality predictions during the product design phase, the company said Thursday.
The new AI system reduces the time required to assess the quality of completed products by up to 99 percent, cuts AI training time by more than 95 percent and lowers memory usage to one-tenth of previous levels, according to LG.
Where it previously took 3 to 8 hours to predict product quality before creating a prototype, the new technology completes the process in under three minutes using AI—eliminating the need for separate simulation stages.
The home appliances giant said it is preparing to launch a web-based platform called Eng.AI (Engineering AI) that will incorporate the new predictive AI technology for product developer use.
"We deliver end-to-end solutions to clients across all stages of manufacturing. AI-based verification technology will not only shorten the product development cycle but also significantly boost development efficiency," said Jeong Dae-hwa, president of LG Electronics' Manufacturing Engineering Research Institute.
To reinforce the credibility of its new technology, LG said it has submitted a related research paper to the International Conference on Machine Learning, one of the most prestigious global academic conferences in the AI field.
The company plans to first apply the technology internally to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, starting with component design for home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and TVs, as well as automotive products.
The new technology is also expected to enhance the competitiveness of LG Electronics' smart factory solutions, a business segment the company actively expanded last year.
The research institute projected that orders for smart factory solutions from clients outside the LG Group will surpass 400 billion won ($297 million) in 2024 — marking a more than 30 percent increase from the previous year.
LG said it aims to expand its smart factory client base beyond home appliances to include semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and chemicals to grow the smart factory solutions business into a trillion-won-level portfolio by 2030.
LG's smart factory solutions support a wide range of manufacturing functions, including production system design, real-time monitoring, operational optimization, and big data and generative AI-based process and equipment management, the company said.
